We roll into week 8 on a bit of a skid and the schedule doesn't do us any favors with the Superchiefs riding a 6-game win streak. The pregame messaging is clear...let's not do what we've done the last two games. Start fast and don't give them an inch to get back in the game.
The boys come out buzzing and we are able to take a 2-0 lead after the first. I'd like think it was 100% coach's motivational pregame write-up...wishful thinking. 2nd period Superchiefs come out with some pressure and get a nice goal from Rich. Immediately panic sets in...oh no...
Thankfully we contained them for the rest of the period and only surrender the one. Third period we are looking for the insurance goal and sub Gates finds it with a nice feed from Austin. Chiefs pull their goalie with 3 minutes left down two and generate a lot of pressure. We are able to fight them off and outlet one to Austin for the EN goal.
4-1 Final.
Big win against one of the top teams this year. Feel like we saw what our team can be if we play like that every game. We'll attempt to get back to .500 against another top team in the Fiestas. Thanks, Gates for subbing, played great while Rob was enjoying the Motor City Kitties.
