Marauders Game Write Up:

These things are certainly easier to write after a win.

The week 4 matchup for the Raud Squad was a heavyweight bout to say the least. We knew the T-Bolts were going to be a fast and offensive team, so we knew we would have to stick to our defensive gameplan and capitalize on our chances when we got them. The T-Bolts didn’t disappoint and were all over us from the start. We were able to weather for the first two periods thanks to some stellar goaltending from DeMars who made some amazing saves. Newly married man Caldwell was able to find the back of the net to give us the lead heading into the third. The plan was on schedule, but unfortunately the FHL makes us play all 3 periods.

Ryan Zack would eventually find a way to get a puck past Brandon off a deflection in front of the net, sending us to a tie score late into the third. By this point the Raud Squad’s D men were starting to lose their legs and couldn’t keep up with the T-Bolt onslaught. Ryan Zack would get another one to give them the lead and the rookie Putek would ice the game with an empty netter. The married man put in another goal with 30 seconds left to make the scoreboard look nicer. Caldwell got to take home POG honors to his new bride.

3 quick notes:

  1. VP Sope Daddy was a late last minute healthy scratch. What are you Ford guys doing making him work so hard? This put us down to three D, which was fine for most of the game but hurt us in the third. That is just an excuse though because the T-Bolts rolled 3 as well with Tymczak getting the timely tweaked back.

  2. Four weeks in a row with a great bar turn out. The rookies are still trying to figure out the proper number of tacos to order. If you don’t get enough, you’ll have to order more, but if you get too many…there is no such thing as too many.

  3. “Spazzy” Bazzy’s dad was in the stands today and gave the team some helpful game notes. Not to mention a 36-minute phone lecture for “Spazzy” after the game. Here is a brief synopsis:

    1. “Big Bald guy” should have suited up.

    2. Forwards need to do a better job of clearing the puck out of the zone. Shoot it hard, nothing soft.

    3. We didn’t get our asses kicked, but we didn’t help ourselves.

Thunderbolts Game Write Up:

Big game for the Thunderbolts, playing the defensive minded Marauders. Beaupre said it best in the locker room, "Anyone can win in the occasional blowout, but good teams can win in any fashion!" He was right about this one. T-bolts dominate first 5 minutes of the game, not letting the Marauders cross center ice.  But after a scoreless first the bad guys strike first with baby Caldwell scoring on Alex in the slot(upgrade)! The T-bolts didn't panic, Ryan scored the next 2 goals in the third to give us he lead! We hold off a rally by the marauders. Chet adds the empty netter to make it 3-1. The Mauraders add one late, but Beaupre ices the game picking off multiple zone entry passes. Great game by both teams. Alex made some key saves, and Demars stood on his head at the other end other wise it could've got ugly. Thanks to Gret for subbing with his old man!
