Mariners Game Write Up:

Well we knew going into this one goals were going to be tough to come by and they definitely were. We started out pretty well getting some early chances but I ended up just helping Brendan break in his chest protector. Maybe I'll try a corner next game, bold strategy we'll see if it works. We manage to get on the board first on a give and go mini 2 on 1 with me and Rhett where his pass coming back to me in front bounces off the Marauders and into the net. That was the end of our scoring for the night. The Marauders managed to come back with a nice goal and tacked on another on a screened shot from the point. We pull the goalie late but struggle with the math and end up with a too many men penalty which sealed the victory for the Marauders. We battled but came up short, great efforts by our three subs Albert, Guiseppe, and Hockey Jesus. Thanks for subbing guys. Now on to T-bolts coming off a 13 goal performance 😳 Remeber you liked me once Mike lol

Marauders Game Write Up:

Week 2 is in the books and the Raud Squad manages to come away with another “W”

Wins are hard to come by in this league and the squad is pumped to get in the first 2 weeks.

With the Mariners three-headed monster of Brett, Rhett, and Dolega, we knew we were going to be on our heels most of the game. The Mariners did not disappoint putting pressure on our defensive zone early and often. The game plan was to weather the storm and capitalize on our opportunities when we got them.

“Jazzy” Bazzy was the first to execute this plan to perfection on our first goal. One of the grittiest goals I have seen in this league. He refused to take no for an answer from the Mariner defense. He pursued, they took the puck, he would take it back. This cycle went on three or four times before Bazzy willed the puck into the net past “The Chef.”

The Mariners would answer back quickly with Rhett bouncing a pass off the Marauder Rep’s skate. The Raud rep doing his finest Pele impersonation. You read that correctly. Rhett passed the puck, and it still went into the net. You just can’t shut that guy down. Hopefully this leads to more goals for the Marauder rep, sometimes you just have to see the puck going into the net…. even if it is your own net.

Rookie phenom Ryan Pearson was the next to capitalize on an opportunity by ripping a shot from the point off a turnover. Gadulka played a great game and never stood a chance on this one. There were 13 bodies in front of him and the puck hit a couple of them on its way in. The rook had been peppering him with shots all night and finally found a way to get one through. The rest of the game the Mariners did what they could to try and mount a comeback, but Caldwell and the Raud Squad weren’t giving up an inch. At one point, the Mariners were so discombobulated they forgot how many people they were allowed to have on the ice. Apparently, you can’t just add a sixth guy without pulling your goalie. Must be a new rule.

Three Notes:

1.       POG hat and POG tall boy go to the rookie phenom Ryan Pearson. Great game rook.

2.       Great to have Caldwell back! He faced a ton of shots and stood on his head for us. Great to have Renner back. Came back with an ankle issue but played outstanding and stood up to every challenge he faced.

3.       Pearson dethrones Tassis as the team’s leading goal scorer. Jim will work on fixing that next week against the Diesels.
